Crane In weekend
Published 21:04 on 5 Apr 2022
This has been a particularly busy weekend at the Boat Club but very successful.
The weekend started with the dropping of the new river navigation buoys ground tackle on Friday afternoon in perfect calm conditions.
Before beginning Crane in on Saturday, club member Bob Sharp made a small and very appropriate dedication to the late Jeff McLeod our Mooring Convener who very sadly passed away just over a week ago. We then held a minutes silence for our dear friend who will be much missed.
Crane in proceeded with Alastair Johnson doing an excellent job as Banksman supported well by the various teams onshore. The Tug crews of Alex Tulloch, Campbell Calder, Chris Callender and Michael Barber were kept busy throughout the day and a special shout out for the catering teams who provided excellent soup, rolls and snacks.
Sunday got underway with our Dinghy Park Convener, Paul Sizeland leading a clear up work party and after this the Cruiser sailors erected the mast crane, once again in fine weather.
In the afternoon Ben Galloway, Drew Pratt, Campbell Calder and Lawrie Elliott headed out to lay the race marks however the weather had turned and the two boat crews experienced rough and very cold conditions but got the job done.
On the river final tweaks were being made to boats on the mooring trots. A big thank you to all who helped over the weekend, let's look forward to a great sailing season!
