CBC Annual Dinghy Regatta

Published 13:53 on 19 Jun 2023
On Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 June we ran our annual dinghy regatta. Saturday's racing was held in a light to moderate north easterly breeze allowing for some close tactical racing.
On the Sunday we continued to have a north easterly wind however the breeze was considerably stronger with the first race of the day being held in a force 4/5 and the second in a F5/6. In these conditions tactics were less of an issue and it became more about remaining upright!
Ewan Christison in his Laser dominated the fast fleet with a clean run of first places, he was followed by Darren Smith also in a Laser and in third place Alan Mackenzie in his RS400.
The slow fleet was won by Keith Driver sailing his ILCA6, followed by young Simon Ellis sailing a PIco. Paul and Bettina Sizeland sailing their Wayfarer took third place.
Thank you to our Safety Boat crews, on Saturday - John Kenworthy, Chris Callender, Kay McBurney and Drew Pratt and on Sunday Lawrie Elliott, Andy Carr and Callum Smith. A special mention to Andy and Callum who had an extremely busy afternoon and did a great job.
