Boxing Day Bash

The club entered into the true spirit of Christmas on Boxing Day with a family-friendly singalong of well known festive tunes, along with a special Christmas quiz provided by Quizmaster Dale on YouTube, lubricated by mulled wine and mince pies from the bar.
The evening opened with a selection of Christmas songs suitable for younger attendees, including Away in a Manager, Jingle Bells and Frosty the Snowman, with families coming through from the bar with their little ones to join in the fun.
The central part of the entertainment was a hotly contested quiz. Six teams battled through rounds including the hilarious "worst answers" round. Fortunes fluctuated throughout the rounds, with "Pigs in Blankets" in joint 2nd at one point before falling away at the end. In the end, "Quizzard the Lizard Wizards" came out on top by just 2 points, with only half a point between "Christmas Crackers" in 2nd and "Snow Balls" in third.
Prizes of Prosecco and selection boxes were awarded to the winners, with selection boxes and chocolate oranges for 2nd and 3rd places. Quizmaster Dale puts out a new quiz on YouTube, for free, each week if you want to brush up your general knowledge over the year!
The final part of the entertainment was another singalong, this time mainly traditional carols including O Come All Ye Faithful with a very spirited descant in the last verse (so spirited that no-one sang the tune at that point) and Good King Wenceslas, finishing off with We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
Thanks to Leonie's husband, Griff, for bringing along his keyboard and leading the singing.
