Visiting Yachts from Granton

Cramond Boat Club was delighted to welcome Forth Corinthian Yacht Club for a cruise in company on Saturday 31st August.
It might have been the last official day of summer, but for both clubs it seemed it was also the best sailing day of summer, and a nice easterly breeze brought an impressive flotilla of 10 boats in from Granton.
Many yotties in the Forth are terrified of our notorious harbour entrance so the FCYC skippers are to be commended for their pilotage skills in successfully navigating their way into Cramond. Perhaps it helped that there were a couple of former CBC members in their ranks.
Having said that, a few boats couldn't make it over the river bar due to their draft, but luckily some of the crews were able to return by car to enjoy the afternoon.
Those who made it into the Almond were directed to the quay wall and weclomed by Chris and other CBC members. The boats made a fine sight, all moored up in the sunshine.
Our visitors were then able to enjoy a barbeque on the roof and the bar was opened early for them. After much socialising, all the boats departed, to catch the last of the tide back to Granton.
A great time was enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Leonie, Janice and Julie for organising the food and bar. Also thanks to Chris for arranging the visit and to Campbell and Pavel for on-the-water advice and help.
