Women's Race 2023

Yesterday Sunday 20th of August we had our annual women's race. The five boats that turned out did extremely well given the very strong and blustery south by southwest breeze.
The racing was extremely competitive with only 35 seconds on corrected time between Kay McBurney sailing a Wayfarer and Eilidh Newlands in a Laser Radial in the first race.
The second race was even closer with Eilidh winning by 2 seconds on corrected time thus winning the Women's Trophy.
A great result for this young talented sailor. Special mention to the other two dinghies completing the racing Leonie Griffin & Janice Kerrisk in a Wanderer and Jennie and Howie Stansfield in their GP14 all of whom stayed upright in-spite of the very challenging conditions.
Annmarie MacRury came to the race area in her Pico but chose to have a fast free sail, nothing wrong with that!
All the anxious pre race faces were replaced by big smiles when coming ashore - having enjoyed a great days sailing in strong winds.
